We regard fostering as a profession, often involving continuous input and appreciate that monetary award is an important consideration. Our intention is to offer a highly competitive financial package and this is centred around both your experience and skill set. Accordingly we have a tiered system as to the weekly fee you receive. Our tiers are called New, Intermediate, Senior and Vocational. Our objective and hopefully also your aspiration is to move you to the top tier on the back of our training and ongoing support. Our independent Social Worker will review your position twice a year in May and November to ensure that you are progressing with your training needs.
We would expect the weekly fee to cover all expenses although we do contribute a maximum one off payment of £75 towards one school uniform per child. Also on occasions there are special financial needs which may impact on the family budget and we adopt a flexible approach on a case by case basis.
In addition you are also entitled to 16 nights paid respite care annually at your normal weekly fee less £40.
There is also a Holiday Allowance, in addition to your weekly fee, and you need to be on holiday with your foster child(ren) for at least 5 consecutive nights. The payment is at the rate of £305 per child per week for all carers.
A bonus scheme is also in operation so that increasing one off payments are made after 1,3,5,7 10 and 15 years with us.
Additional fees apply if for example you are looking after a Parent and Child or a young person with disabilities or you are a part of our Remand and Intensive Fostering programme.
